Mr. Rapp attended Grand Rapids Junior College and Grand Valley State University, where he attained his Associates and Bachelor of Arts degrees respectively. In 1975, he received his Juris Doctorate degree from the Wayne State University Law School; he served on the Student Board of Governors during his last two years. While attending law school and after graduation, he worked for the City of Livonia for three years. There, he handled a variety of human resource issues including grievance arbitration.
In 1976, he joined Travelers Insurance Company in Grand Rapids and established a house counsel program for Western Michigan. During his five years as house counsel, Mr. Rapp engaged primarily in workers’ compensation defense. He joined Kluczynski, Girtz & Vogelzang in 1981. He has been an active member of the Grand Rapids Adjustor’s Association for over twenty years and has served in many officers’ positions with that organization, including 2 terms as president. His areas of expertise include workers’ compensation defense and employment law including MIOSHA appeals.
